TGI_M05 Optimization based congestion control and networking

The TGI module “TGI_M05: Optimization based congestion control and networking” will run from May 26th to May 30th, 2014. The module will be delivered by Prof. R. Srikant of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and classes will run from 9.30am-12.30pm and 2pm-4pm each day. The venue for this module is the Hamilton Institute seminar room. Postdoctoral Fellow: Mathematics of Networks

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position within the networking group at the Hamilton Institute, National University of Ireland, Maynooth. The Hamilton Institute has one of the largest and most active applied mathematics research groups in Ireland and is an international centre of excellence. Current areas of interest include:

  • Queueing/information theory applied to wireless networks
  • Network optimisation, including dynamic routing/coding
  • Privacy and security
  • Optimisation and distributed algorithms for smart transport

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an excellent international research track record and the potential to contribute leadership in developing new research directions and partnerships to both strengthen and complement existing activity.

This is a full-time research position for 3 years. Salary will reflect experience and qualifications, on the Science Foundation Ireland Research Fellow scale €33,975-€41,181. Works starts on new building

Early Stage Researcher (Ph.D. Student) Mathematical Biology

Applications are invited for a three-year, generously salaried (39,983 Euro per annum), Ph.D. position in Mathematical Biology on the European Union Marie Curie Initial Training Network on Quantitative T Cell immunology (QUANTI).

The primary restrictions on candidature are: (1) to ensure the international character of the ITN project, applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Ireland for more than 12 months in the last three years immediately prior to the date of selection; (2) candidates must not yet have been awarded the doctorate degree and must be in the first 4 years (full-time equivalent) of their research career; (3) have a first class or higher second class degree (or equivalent) in a numerate discipline such as mathematics / statistics / computer science / engineering.

Quantitative T cell Immunology EU ITN Meeting

The inaugural meeting for the FP7-PEOPLE-2012-ITN (Initial Training Network) project QUANTI (Quantitative T cell Immunology) will take place at the Hamilton Institute on the 29th & 30th of August 2013. The meeting will open at 11am on Thursday the 29th and close at 5pm on the 30th, with all partners expected to be represented.
