Tip of the Week
The factorial of a positive whole number n is
written n! and is calculated by multiplying
together all of the numbers from n back to one.
For instance:
5! = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1;
8! = 8 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1;
3! = 3 x 2 x 1;
10! = 10 x 9 x 8 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1.
The factorial of any number n is the factorial of
(n - 1) multiplied by n. So:
10! = 3628800 = 10 x 362880 = 10 x 9!;
8! = 40320 = 8 x 5040 = 8 x 7!;
121! = 121 x 120!
and so on.
