About me

I'm originally from Berlin, Germany. After receiving my "Abitur" from a small school in the southwest, I decided to get an education in economics with BMW in Berlin. I graduated in 1993 with an degree as "Industriekaufmann". A lack of academic challenges and the prospect of student life made me start a course in Electrical Engineering at the TU Berlin. I specialised on control theory, medical signal processing and fault tolerant real-time systems.

During the last four years of my studies I gained some practical experience while working as a research student at DaimlerChrysler research. My final thesis
"Multivariable control of an active suspension system" was co-supervised by Dr. Jens Kalkkuhl (DaimlerChrysler AG) and Prof. Filbert (TU-Berlin).

Current position

I am currently employed as a research assistant at the Hamilton Institute, NUI Maynooth funded by the European research training network on  Multi-agent control. I am currently working towards a Ph.D degree in stability theory for switched linear systems.

Research interests

My current research interests lie mainly in the area of stability criteria for switched linear systems. In particular, I am interested finding stability conditions that are easily applicable and provide insight for the design of stable controllers. My recent work has focused on eigenvalue criteria and frequency-domain analysis using common quadratic and common piecewise linear Lyapunov functions.
