About me

I received my two Engineering Technology Diplomas (Electronics Engineering and Computer Hardware Engineering) at the Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2005. I completed my Bachelor's of Engineering from the National University of Ireland Maynooth in 2009. I am currently working on my Master's Thesis under the supervision of Professor Rick Middleton at the Hamilton Institute in the area of Humanoid Robot Soccer Locomotion and Dynamics.

Since 2008 I have been a member of the Irish Robocup team 'RoboEireann'.

Control and Embedded Systems, Robotic Applications, in particular Humanoid Robotics.

Technical skills

• Languages : C, C++, Dynamic C, MATLAB, VHDL, PICmicro, Visual Basic, Assembly.

• Scripts : HTML, Javascript, MathCAD, Matlab, Python, Verilog.

• Design software : MAX Plus II (Graphical and Hardware Description Language), various C and HTML development environments, MATLAB, PSpice, Multisim, Ultiboard, Electronics Workbench, AutoCAD, MathCAD, UML, Webots, Microsoft Robotics Studio, Mambo (web design /administration), Photoshop, Corel Draw, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Front Page).

• Electronics (digital and analog) : Proficient in electronics circuit theory, design, simulation, testing, interface issues, schematic capture, PCB layout/routing, assembly (wire-wrap/*soldering techniques and SMT), trouble shooting/measurements, manufacturing techniques and prototype construction.

• Operating Systems and PC Hardware : MSDOS, win98/2000/XP/2003 server/NT, Novell, Linux(Red Hat, Ubuntu), Unix (installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrading, troubleshooting, system recovery).

• Network : Cisco Certified Network Administrator: Hardware (routers/switches), management/configuration, security.

• Other: Thorough experience with embedded systems and micro-controllers particularly: Rabbit 2000 microprocessor, Altera PLD and the NAO Humanoid Robot. Very familiar with most test bench equipment (oscilloscope, multimeters, signal generators etc.)
