About Me

I was born in Mashhad, Iran and did my undergrad study in Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in Electrical (Control) Engineering. Then I got my Masters degree in Electrical (Control) Engineering in K. N. Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2003. After that, I had to do my military service for 20 painful months and then, I worked in ZTE Corp as an Engineer and then a Project Manager. After two years in ZTE, I joined Ericsson as a Project Manager and worked there for 16 months. Although I had a successful carrier in Ercisson, I felt that academic life is more suitable for somebody with my talents, so I joined Hamilton Institute (a.k.a The Best Research Institute in the World!) in December 2008 as a PhD student under supervision of Dr. Oliver Mason.

Research Interests

I enjoy working on different aspects of control theory and its applications. During my PhD study, I have been working on

Stability and D-stability of:    Nonlinear and Cooperative Systems

Switched Systems

Delayed Systems

Although recently, I have been more interested in applications of the nonlinear systems theory to Mathematical Epidemiology and Mathematical Ecology.

More About Me

Apart from the academic life, I am also involved in different extracurricular activities:

I play football with other students and professors from Hamilton Institute and Engineering department. If you are in Maynooth, you can join us every Tuesday and Thursday in Astroturf at 13:00. Also, I like playing Snooker, although I am not much good at it.

I enjoy listening to Irish music every Thursday night in the Braddy's pub in Maynooth. There is also a monthly dance event that I enjoy taking part in it, called Funky Seomra. If you live in Dublin and interested in dancing, I strongly recommend you to go there.

I enjoy traveling around Ireland and visiting its fantastic scenery (especially in those rare sunny weekends!). I was going to these trips mostly with International Students' Society in NUI Maynooth, but since I have got my full Irish driving license, I am hitting the road with my old lovely car!

I used to be a subscriber of Economist, but at the moment, the only magazine that I read regularly is New Scientist because I do not have much spare time. Although I enjoy reading books and articles and watching documentaries by Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris and like-minded intellectuals.

I am a member of Amnesty International, Ireland Chapter, and try to contribute and help them as much as I can.
