From: Brian Verre Date: Mon, 24 Jul 2006 17:06:51 -0500 Hello Gavin, I stumbled across your site after googling "port 3859" and was happy to see some ripwave hacking in progress. I've decompiled the diagnostic program this afternoon in the hopes of finding a way to dump the firmware. I would like to investigate any possible bios modifications (TX power +boost, overclocking, or whatever comes to mind). Also, it seems to me these modems might be more stable with a heatsink? On the header of the .jad (java decompiled source) files you will see the app used for reversing. I'll leave it to you to investigate the non-navini code bundled in the diag +program (ftp utils in particular). There is a major cache of information contained in these files, that would allow someone of the proper inclination to build a custom diagnostics and/or configuration program +complete with string identifiers. Now you can see how these packets are decoded, and how some are generated with ease. I may give it a go but I thought someone like yourself would be interested in the data nonetheless! [please excuse the large attachment, and for not using bzip2 ] Regards, Brian Verre P.S. Let me know what you think!
