Systems biology focuses on the study of complex biological systems on the molecular level. The detailed description of the interaction of the components of a signaling pathway allows the explanation and prediction of the pathway's dynamics. On a higher level, pharmacokinetics (PK) studies the fate of a drug within an organism, i.e. the extent and rate of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME processes). I am especially interested in combining both approaches to analyze drug interferences with signaling pathways exemplified for the NFkB pathway.
